Tea With My Shadow
Tea With My Shadow is a short video centered around the idea of 'shadow work'. The video is meant to be a literal representation of someone sitting with and showing understanding and compassion to the darkest parts of themselves- shame, disgust, bitterness, anger, and grief. This video was written, filmed, edited, and color corrected for an advanced video production course.
Myth & Film
Myth & Film presupposes that in a centuries long history of participatory storytelling that film acts as a remix of myth. It explores this idea through comparing certain mythological bodies of work to films such as Blade Runner, The Matrix, Lady Bird, Star Wars, and more. Through an analysis of films by nature of their function according to Joseph Campbell’s mythic functions and a brief overview of films that incorporate frequently viewed mythological tropes, this work serves as an introductory dive into the waters of comparative mythology, film analysis, and the history of storytelling. Myth & Film uses narration, text, music, video clips, and film scenes to convey its central ideas. In association with undergraduate film and media production studies at Loyola University Chicago COMM 323: Remixing Culture.
The Bleeding Girl
The Bleeding Girl is a short experimental video centered around Mallory and her struggle to find freedom from the remnants her abuser, understanding from a patriarchal society, and compassion towards her own internalizations of the emotional and verbal abuse she suffered under. This video was written, filmed, and edited for an introductory video production course. Please note the content warnings: mentions of abuse, suggestions of suicide and/or cutting, representations of blood.
